presenting "Complex & Simple from Kale to Candy - What Did Our
Ancestors Think About Carbs?" Justin Bean
is a local acupuncturist who has been in practice for over ten
years. When asked about his reasons for becoming involved with Gilda's Club,
he related the following... Acupuncture is
very valuable. I am gratified to have the ability to help my patients with
their health troubles. It commonly resolves even the most stubborn and
chronic painful conditions. Acupuncture has become so popular that I am kept
constantly busy and have been grateful to be able to provide it. And yet, acupuncture
is of limited value. It can't reverse heart disease or diabetes. It doesn't
prevent cancer, osteoporosis or cognitive impairment. Acupuncture is
great for symptoms. I wouldn't want to minimize its power. But, for the
most ominous and destructive disease processes that affect my patients, I was
powerless. Careful analysis
of historical medical writings that correlate with modern medical research
reveal that lifestyle factors, especially diet, have the most profound effect
on the course of our most common and destructive degenerative diseases. This is a new
paradigm in medicine and Gilda's Club is at the forefront of this movement.
This is health care at its best, not for profit but based on the sincere
desire of those involved to help those in need. This is health care as
support, encouragement, camaraderie and most of all, information. The
information that encourages patients and physicians to view and experience
these challenges from a more humane vantage point. People naturally
want to help people - it is simple and yet possibly the most powerful
intervention available. I'm involved with Gilda's Club because I too, want to
help. --Justin Bean C.A. Office Space Available!
