Oprah
Madness Here is what
member Chrissy DeGennaro wrote on her Facebook page last week about a very
extraordinary event—her appearance with another member, Josie Chivalette, on
Oprah’s Favorite Things, that aired last Monday. “Thank you
all for sharing our excitement! I really appreciate all the nice notes, texts
and messages. Many have asked how I got on the show. One night a couple of
months ago I was on Oprah's website and saw a call for people who are your
hero, inspire you or have an amazing story to tell.” “I thought of
one woman who was all of those. In the course of a year this woman lost her
sister, brother-in-law, 39 year old daughter, her husband and was diagnosed
with an aggressive breast cancer. I was hoping that the world would get to
meet Josie, but instead I got a car and fancy gifts. Spending time with her
in Chicago was a gift in itself, but I'm really, really excited to get my
yellow car. Love you Josie!! Fight that cancer and get well so we can drag
race in our new wheels!” (Josie’s house also burned down and the family
rebuilt a new home during the past year.) Last Monday
everyone around Gilda’s Club South Jersey was tuned in to grab a glimpse of
Chrissy and Josie…and to, let’s face it, see all the good stuff that they
walked away with. And it was a haul: sequin Uggs, a Coach
bag, diamond earrings, an iPad, a 2012 VW Beetle and more! The whole
event was a thrill—even to watch on screen. If you really want a
laugh check out this YouTube
link for an SNL spoof on the Oprah’s Favorite Things. LAST DAY to help

plank on the Larry Alper Boardwalk Mural is a great way to honor
someone. You can personalize a plank in honor of someone, in memory of
someone, to thank someone… for any reason at all! It also makes a
great holiday gift! The beautiful mural is
located in the hallway where all of our guests enter the clubhouse. Click here to purchase a plank! |
